Overview

The Mardi Himal Trek is one of the most enchanting short treks in Nepal, offering breathtaking views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre ranges. Located east of the popular Annapurna Base Camp trail, this hidden gem takes travelers through serene landscapes, rhododendron forests, and traditional villages. Unlike crowded trails, Mardi Himal offers a quiet and peaceful trekking experience, perfect for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

Starting from Pokhara, the trek gradually ascends through lush forests, alpine meadows, and high ridges that open up to panoramic Himalayan vistas. Trekkers can enjoy close-up views of Mount Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli, making the journey truly rewarding. The trail is relatively short yet diverse, offering both cultural and natural highlights within a week-long adventure.

One of the key attractions of the Mardi Himal Trek is the spectacular Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m). Standing at this vantage point, trekkers are rewarded with awe-inspiring Himalayan scenery. Along the way, quaint teahouses and warm local hospitality add charm to the journey, allowing trekkers to immerse themselves in the culture of the Gurung and Magar communities.

The trek is considered moderately challenging, suitable for both beginners with good fitness levels and experienced trekkers seeking a short Himalayan adventure. The best seasons to embark on the Mardi Himal Trek are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) when the weather is clear, and the mountain views are at their finest.

With expert guidance and well-organized services provided by iGlobal Travel and Tourism, the Mardi Himal Trek becomes a hassle-free and memorable experience. Itinerary

Your journey begins with a short drive from Pokhara to Kande. From here, the trek starts with a steady climb through terraced fields and small Gurung villages. The trail passes Australian Camp and Pothana before reaching Deurali. The route offers beautiful views of the Annapurna range and lush forests. Overnight stay at a teahouse in Deurali.

After breakfast, the trail ascends gradually through dense forests of rhododendron, oak, and maple. The peaceful environment makes this section enjoyable. As you climb higher, you’ll notice cooler temperatures and glimpses of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain). By afternoon, you’ll reach Low Camp, surrounded by forests with occasional mountain views. Overnight at Low Camp.

This day’s trek offers spectacular scenery. The forest thins out, and you begin walking along a ridge with panoramic views of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. The trail is relatively short but steadily uphill. High Camp provides close-up views of the Himalayas and a magical sunset. Overnight at High Camp.

The highlight of the trek! Early morning, you’ll hike up to Mardi Himal Base Camp. The trail is steep but rewarding, with breathtaking views of Mardi Himal, Annapurna I, and Machhapuchhre. After spending time at the base camp, you’ll descend back to High Camp for breakfast and continue trekking down to Low Camp. Overnight stay at Low Camp.

On the final day, you’ll descend through lush forests and traditional villages toward Siding. This downhill trail is easier and offers cultural experiences of local Gurung settlements. From Siding, a private vehicle will transfer you back to Pokhara, marking the end of your Mardi Himal trekking adventure.
